Our Mission:

To put the kindness of those around us into action through providing for families in need.

It all began with an idea.

40 Years ago our father, Joseph Carr, joined the Rotary Club of Medford Massachusetts. Along with a group of like-minded individuals, he co-founded a project to help feed local families in need during the holidays. That first year they fed 50 families and so the Rotary Christmas Food Basket program was born. Nearly 40 Years later, the program is still running strong and every December the group feeds hundreds of families.

Joe passed away in in 2012, followed by the love of his life, Leslie in 2014. In honor of their memory, Joe and Leslie’s children decided to bring the food basket program closer to home. In 2019, The Giving Season Project started, raising almost $8,000 over 10 days and feeding over 100 families in need during the holiday season. In 2020, their children started The Joseph and Leslie Carr Foundation, Inc as a registered 501c3 charity with plans to continue, and dramatically expand The Giving Season Project with the hopes of feeding hundreds of families across Massachusetts. In the end, it’s all because kindness matters.

We continue every day to try and be the children that our parents dreamed we would be.
